Remember: Hunting monsters can get dangerous, so we suggest tackling those jobs in groups of two to four."

How to use:

To attempt one of the bounties, comment to this post, specifying the bounty in question, other party members you'll be taking along, and any further requested or relevant details.

If the bounty states Moderated Log not required, you can put up a log to play out the events with all involved participants at your own discretion; if it states Moderated Log required, you will need to play out a series of events led by one of the mods, so make sure you can commit the time to doing it!

Bounties and expeditions may be taken by a single group of up to five people, and characters can undertake new bounties and expeditions once every three days.

For the month of July, completing at least one bounty will earn 50 experience!

I'm told there's a mysterious rock or crystal of some kind that heats up nonliving matter in proximity; it sounds like a fantastic substance for study! The fact that you won't be able to wear anything while transporting it won't be too much of a problem, right?

Agrias will stand by her lady's decision; the ice doesn't appear to be actually harming anything, and as long as people are careful, there's no need to fight the serpents or endanger its brood. Besides, they have the samples of snake skin and ice that were collected for study, so they will not be returning empty-handed. Surely, those will be of interest to someone.

Noting the movement, Ayla attempts to get the attention of the party without shouting too loudly, opting instead to go with a harsh hissing inward breath. She then follows up with some more hand motions, a wiggly arm signifying the snake and the direction she believes it to be going.

She's game to fight it, but there's no need to engage with it if it's indeed moving away from them. She's presently of the same mind as Ovelia, and if they're not here to hunt it for safety or food, she's fine leaving it alone.

Velo, meanwhile, is interested in that glow below the lake. She can't see it well from here, but something just feels off about the eggs. Why were they glowing like that?

She will suggest to keep an eye on the snake while she quietly dives in to investigate, preparing a small leather sack to gather an egg or whatever the glowing thing is in case it proved to be dangerously cold.

Stupid? Maybe. But leaving now wouldn't give any answers as to why the ice was forming. Sure, they had a few samples, but none of them were from the cause itself.

VELO NO DON'T DIVE INTO THE FRIGID SNAKE WATER YOU'RE COLD BLOODED

Don't mind Red, he's just going to dive in after Velofnir to save her from herself when the big snake monster inevitably tries to get a piece of her.

Thankfully, no such daring underwater rescue is required; beneath the pond's surface, the water is largely clear and entirely snake-free, though- of course- very, very cold. Velo is therefore able to approach the clutch of eggs unmolested.

The eggs themselves are about head-sized, soft-shelled, and- most importantly- painfully cold to the touch, like freshly-fallen snow. Still, with the aid of her bag, Velo has little issue carefully bagging one up to take home for study. That just left the strange glow in the middle of the pond.

And as soon as she gazes into it, a rush of arcane knowledge floods Velofnir's senses-- and with it, an understanding of why the small pond never quite seemed to each equilibrium.

A new Scholar spell has been discovered:

Their job done, the team beats a retreat back home to report their findings.

"Interesting. According to the locals, the egg and skin belong to a monster known as a 'Frostfang Anaconda', a kind of water snake with close ties to the element of ice. It must have laid its eggs in a spring...

Anyway, the eggs will hatch in a week or two, and the ice will probably stop forming after that happens. Either way, it doesn't seem to be anything to worry about."

Their job completed, the party receives their pay of 1200 Sol. The party is free to do as they wish with the egg, though Lenna strongly advises against trying to keep it as a pet, given the animal's massive size and cantankerous demeanor as an adult.
