Regains
What's this page for?
This page is for players who wish to have their characters regain items and/or abilities from their home world and their original set of powers. All you need to do is use the code below to request your regain and provide the appropriate proofs depending on the level of regain you're looking to grab.
Remind me: What's a proof?
A proof is proof of activity. That's 5 log comments or 10 network comments. For example, if you're looking to get a level 2 regain, we ask for two proofs that are NOT used for AC. We allow threads from the month prior to your request (for example, making a request in December, you can use threads from November as well as December), combined with ones made in the previous month. But again, we ask that they not be threads you're using for AC. Threads used for bonus EXP are completely fine.
How do I know what level of regain I'd need for an item I want?
Our specifications go as follows:
A maximum of TWO abilities can be regained by a character, so choose carefully! If you decide you want something else, you'll have to give up one of the abilities you've already regained. No refunds!
I have an ability I'd like to unlock, but I'm not sure how to go about it to make it fair for the game. What can I do?
We've provided a little tutorial to help you through. But it's just as they say: If you need further clarification, ask a DM!
In-universe, how does my character receive the regain?
One night, while gazing off at the starry sky above, the character might bear witness to a small shooting star. It's not unlike a lesser version of what they witness when a new Starfallen arrives, but there's something... different about it. They can't put their finger on it, but- somehow- they know in their heart and with absolute certainty that whatever is falling, it's meant for them.
They'll give chase across field and forest, inevitably arriving breathless just in time to witness the impact and seeing their regained, unharmed, beckoning them with a welcomed familiarity... or, in the case of something intangible such as most abilities, a small, glowing bauble that shatters when touched, and in doing so returns to them a portion of their former life.

Regain Item/Ability: Grim Yato, a Divine Weapon Corrin received in Hoshido on the day her mother died, also known as the Sword of Salvation and the Seal of Flames. Prophesized to come to a hero chosen to save the world, Yato chose Corrin as its bearer, and she took it with her when she returned to Nohr. Upon meeting the Rainbow Sage in Notre Sagesse, the Sage performed a ritual that prepared Yato for when she would meet another hero of darkness, who turned out to be her younger brother Leo, wielder of the divine tome Brynhildr in the city of Cyrkensia a little while later. Yato and Brynhildr resonated with each other, and the sword was empowered, transforming into its present form of Grim Yato.
When wielded by Corrin, Grim Yato boosts her physical and magical defenses, allowing her to better protect those she cares about. It is also capable of being summoned to her hand from short distances (less than thirty feet away).

Regain Item/Ability: The Pip-Boy 3000A, an arm-mounted electronic multi-tool, which performs a number of useful analytical functions including a programmable map, motion sensors, and personal digital assistant. When combined with a suit of powered armor (such as the T-51b Power Armor, or the Crimson Dragoon Stealth Armor), the Pip-Boy also enables the Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System, or V.A.T.S., a military tactical software that provides a real-time targeting solutions, slightly increasing the likelihood of the user's attacks hitting or critically striking, as well as an estimation of overall health.

Thankfully, it causes no actual damage.

Regain Item/Ability: The Five Forms of Destruction, the martial arts style taught to his clan and based on the chromatic elements. Elemental attacks are limited to melee back home and that rule will apply here as well. Unlike back home, Cecil will be unable to change stances during battle. The elements are divided into the following five stances:
Volcano: Cecil's attacks can deal fire damage in place of their usual damage type.
Tundra: Cecil's attacks can deal ice damage in place of their usual damage type
Storm: Cecil's attacks can deal lightning damage in place of their usual damage type
Miasma: Cecil's attacks are slightly weaker, but have a chance to inflict poison. Ideal against faster targets as fewer hits can wear them down.
Swamp: Cecil's attacks can wear through heavy armor to make the target easier to hit. Ideal against big, slow targets.
Flexible as this regain may be, it will come with an additional, heavy drawback: each use of it will hurt Cecil with half of the damage dealt as recoil. This style draws on the user's anger and relying on it after being given a new life away from all that will be literally and metaphorically self-destructive. I want Cecil to ultimately abandon or unlearn this regain when he learns to love himself and let go of past hate.
Cecil can choose when to activate these effects, otherwise he would wear himself through fights too quickly.

One night, Ralsei sees a shooting star that seems to call for him. When he finds where it fell, there lay a small, pixellated heart. When he touches it, the sensation of a warm hug wraps around his body for a brief moment before fading.
When the feeling fades, the heart is gone, taken into himself.

Regain Item/Ability: Lightslinger Pistol. A normal pistol from her homeworld. It does not use ammo, instead using passively charging capacitors which discharge beams of concentrated light. As such, it does not need to be reloaded and can fire every round. Additionally, it does holy damage instead of the usual damage type.

Character Name: Adah
Regain Item/Ability: Sun blade. The hilt is stylized as a rapier. When not drawn, it looks simply like a hilt without a blade. When drawn, it manifests a blade of light which deals holy instead of the normal damage type. Additionally, it is slightly easier to hit with the sunblade than with a normal weapon, and it does slightly more damage. The damage increase is more pronounced when combating undead. It also glows and radiates sunlight over a nearby area when active.

Regain Ability: Her dragon transformation. By taking a few moments to concentrate, Corrin can change her form into that of an antlered, winged, Kirin-like Vallite Water Dragon. In this form, Corrin loses access to her equipped weapon, but gains a claw attack and retains use of any equipped class ability that isn't dependent on weapon use, verbal commands, or stealth, as well as a once-per-battle Dark Breath attack. While she cannot truly fly, the wings can allow her to make longer leaps and she can glide. Corrin is also capable of serving as a Cavalier mount in this form but she is very particular about who she lets ride her, viewing it as an intensely intimate act. Her clothing and equipped items change with her, and will automatically be equipped on her when she changes back, unless she chooses for them not to (instead appearing on the ground next to her, and this is an all or nothing deal, she either reappears fully clothed or fully nude). Anti-dragon weapons and magic also deal increased damage to her, and this damage is healed by half as much by curative magic.
A small glitch in the transformation is that once she regains it, occasionally, when Corrin becomes suitably aroused by something or someone, her tail will spontaneously manifest (with her clothing automatically adjusting so she isn't blowing out the back of all her pants) as a visible symbol of her arousal. Basically it'll happen whenever it would be most hilarious for her to pop her tail-boner.

One night, Corrin sees a shooting star plummeting toward the ground with the same certainty that accompanied her Grim Yato before. This time, however, she faintly hears it as well, with a distant, ghostly echo of Azura's song seeming to fill her ears as she follows it.
She arrives to find a cloud of dust with her long-lost Dragonstone in the center. It evaporates into light once she touches it, which may be somewhat alarming; however, upon noticing that she's spontaneously grown a tail which did not destroy her clothing below the waist, she can rest easy knowing that its powers are now hers.

Adah will notice a falling star late at night, one that descends insufferably slowly. Just as frustration is about to take her, she'll feel an updraft blow pass and a second wind with the next flap of her wings. They're carrying her higher, farther and for longer than they could on arrival. With their regained capabilities, it's no time at all before she's able to snatch the necklace before it hits the ground.
The golden feathers gleam as they always did, but surely not as much as Adah, so proud up in the sky.

Regain Item/Ability: A suit of Crimson Dragoon Armor, an experimental weapon designed by the Chinese Army near the end of the Alaskan War and captured by the American Commonwealth. The suit is comprised of a light composite material that is resistant to small-arms fire, but the real advantage of the suit is the dedicated stealth field technology, the reverse-engineering of which allowed the creation of Stealthboys. Upon activation, the wearer is covered in a field that causes them to blend in to the surrounding environment, rendering them highly resistant to detection by most electronic sensors as well as the naked eye. It also has a tendency to fail when subjected to electrical shock. In addition, the suit is designed to produce almost no noise during motion, making the wearer's movements nearly entirely silent.

Regain Item/Ability: Aberrant Dragonmark - Cursed Flesh
Asra's dragonmark reignites, and begins glowing with eerie energy, which is visible as the energy spreads across her back and over her neck, arms and sides. Once per combat, it allows her to mark a target that she can see. The mark appears as her dragonmark and appears burned into the creature's body. All attacks made against the target do additional bursts of dark damage. However, using this power comes with a downside. It withers Asra's flesh and makes her itchy when inactive. When she calls its power, it takes a third of her max health to apply the mark to a target. For another quarter of her max health, she can move the hex sign to another target.

Asra is walking back to her dorm as she sees a shooting star streak across the sky. She's compelled to follow it, perhaps having heard of others who had done the same thing.
At its point of impact is an odd crystal that is warm to the touch. After it's picked up, it begins to smoke and melt, creating an ominously familiar itchy feeling to sweep from her little hand down her arm, and up to the dragonmark. A pleased, smoky laughter echoes briefly through her mind, but it then goes quiet.
The initial itchiness lasts until the following morning, before it's back to its unfortunately all-too-familiar gnaw upon her skin.

Regain Item/Ability: Angelic Form
As a consequence of drinking the ley energy, Adah has developed a new form. Or, rather, has been subjected to it.
When she is under stress, Adah's scales turn white, her leathery wings become feathery wings, and her halo changes from a small ring hovering above her head to a radiant corona, the effect is largely cosmetic, but it does come with two upsides:
Her radiant form empowers her holy weapons, increasing the damage they do.
The feathery wings enhance her existing flight powers.
She can transform when she wants with a little focus, and, as long as she's not under stress, can change back at will. However, when entering combat, there is a 50% chance that she will transform against her will and unable to change back until out of combat.
Transformation, forced or no, is exhausting. After three rounds of being transformed, Adah forcibly transforms back to her normal kobold form and is left stunned for one round as she catches her breath, and cannot re-enter her form for the rest of combat, until she's had some time to rest and regain her energy.

Adah will be drawn towards the night sky as she was before with the shooting star. Instead, she'll notice her halo shining brightly over her head. The rest of her body begins to glow and heat up as it did when she drank the ley energy, as if the divine light inside her was trying to erupt through her markings. When it reaches its most unbearable, Adah's body will take on its angelic form with the pain coming to a sudden end.
She'll feel her holy weapons resonating with her in this form, but may not care for that after experiencing her angelic form's return.

Regain Item/Ability: Garm, one of the two Sacred Twins of Grado, Knoll's homeland, wielded by the original warriors who faced the Demon King and enshrined near the Sacred Stone in case its power was needed again. The mystical axe is a very good example of its kind, and increases the speed with which its wielder moves to a small degree, but its true power is only revealed when facing aberrant, fiendish, or undead monsters. In their presence it shines brightly, and deals slightly increased damage.

Regain Item: Thaumaturgical Event Suppresion Armor [T.E.S. Armor], to be used for the [Golem] Treasure Hunter class feature. Equipped with larger versions of weapons Adah already uses (in that they also do Holy damage instead of another type), it offers her no benefits or features she does not already have in her weapons or class features. It's just a ley energy infused mech.
Could potentially be repurposed for the cavalier later on, a la DAHAK, if/when Adah pursues it.

One night, Adah will witness a particularly radiant falling star descending from the heavens; chasing it to the impact site will see it landing with a particularly bright flash, the ground beneath it looking somehow more crisp and clean than before.
For some reason, seeing it again makes her ponder how easy or difficult it would be for someone to just pick up and throw the thing.

Regain Item/Ability: The Sasserine Medal of Service. The medal has no powers whatsoever; it's all sentimental value. It was a proud moment for them as a group of "monster races" were all looked up to as heroes.

Regain Item/Ability: Jezebeth's Watch. A crimson colored pocket watch without apparent hours marked. Its hands move at a high speed, making it seem broken or unusable to mortals, however the hands actually move at the pace time flows in whatever world Primo is in, the speed is simply due Primo's own perception of time (or lack of) and it's designed to help him keep actual track of time when inside of a world as he can't do it through normal mortal means. The pocket watch also has an inscription that reads "To my first and only true love. From Jezebeth." though Primo doesn't give it much importance other than its use to help him to not be late or early at things.

One particularly lonesome night, Primo sees the sea of stars above ripple, like the surface of a lake. From one ripple, a lone shooting star is born, hurtling to the ground just at the horizon.
At the point of impact is iridescent crystal in a fine sphere, big enough to fit in both hands. As if encased in this crystalline amber lies a familiar pocket watch, in the exact level of wear and tear that he remembers. But as soon as he ponders how he will free the object from the sphere it... pops. Like a bubble.
In the distance, a clock tower chimes the hour, and the breeze carries with it the scent of burning candle wax. Both sound and smell are gone just as soon as they'd come.
